Australia Cracks Down on Caffeine New Caffeine Limits for Pre-Workouts & Energy Drinks

This week Australia has rolled out some new rules effective immediately, in regards to how much caffeine a liquid or powdered pre-workout or energy drink may contain. Australia already has laws in place limiting powdered products to contain more than 320mg of caffeine per daily serving. The new limits require to more than 5% of the daily serving, or 1% in the case of liquid supplements or energy drinks.

A pre-workout for example with a daily serving size of 5 grams may not have more than 250mg of caffeine. This only goes up to, and maxes out at, no more than 320mg of caffeine in a day.

For context, here in the USA, a Bang Energy Drink for example has 300mg of caffeine. Many if not most pre-workout powders tend to have around 350mg of caffeine, if not more. Metabolic Nutrition's ESP Extreme comes in at 750mg for a 3 scoop serving. You can read more about it below...
