Calo Reinvents Movie Snack Time With Caramel Protein Popcorn Delivering 11g of Protein

Calo Protein Popcorn

Calo, best known in the Middle East for its health-focused meal delivery service, is expanding further into functional foods with a new take on a classic snack. The brand has introduced Protein Popcorn, a caramel-coated treat designed to bridge the gap between indulgence and smarter nutrition.

The debut flavor keeps things simple with a rich caramel profile, coating each piece of popcorn for a sweet, dessert-like experience. What sets it apart from traditional snack options is the addition of whey protein, bringing each 50g serving up to 11 grams of protein while still maintaining a familiar movie-night feel.

Alongside the protein content, each pot delivers 29 grams of carbohydrates, 19 grams of which come from sugar, as well as 4 grams of fat and around 199 calories. While not positioned as a macro-perfect fitness snack, it offers a more balanced alternative to standard caramel popcorn for those looking to enjoy a treat with added nutritional value.

Calo’s Protein Popcorn is available in single-serving pots and can also be purchased through bundle options at a reduced per-unit cost via the Calo marketplace. With its combination of flavor and functionality, it represents another step in the brand’s push into innovative, lifestyle-friendly food products.

Fuel 10k Expands Breakfast Range with New High-Protein Crunchy Hoops and Flakes

Fuel Protein Cereal UK

UK functional food brand Fuel 10k is continuing to build out its performance-focused grocery range with the launch of two new breakfast cereals designed to bring extra protein into everyday mornings. Known for reworking classic comfort foods into more nutritionally balanced options, the brand already offers protein porridge and granola, and is now adding cereal to its lineup.

The new Crunchy Hoops and Crunchy Flakes take familiar breakfast formats and upgrade them with added protein. Both products deliver around 8 grams of protein per 35 gram serving, achieved through the inclusion of wheat protein. While not positioned as an ultra-high protein option, they still provide a noticeable boost compared to standard breakfast cereals.

Alongside the protein content, each serving contains approximately 20 grams of carbohydrates and a controlled level of sugar. Fuel 10k highlights that the new cereals contain about 30 percent less sugar than typical alternatives, bringing levels down to roughly 4 to 5 grams per serving. This keeps the focus on a more balanced macro profile without straying too far from traditional taste and texture.

Flavor variety is split between the two formats. Crunchy Hoops are available in Cocoa and Original, while Crunchy Flakes come in Chocolate and Red Berry. The result is a lineup that blends nostalgic cereal options with a more functional nutrition profile aimed at health-conscious consumers.

The new cereals are rolling out across major UK supermarkets including Tesco and Sainsbury’s, priced at just under £4 for a 350 gram box containing around ten servings. With this launch, Fuel 10k continues to strengthen its position in the functional breakfast category by making protein more accessible in everyday foods.

Mrs. Taste Expands Its Protein Snack Lineup with New Coffee-Inspired Cookie Bar

Mrs. Tastes makes a coffee-themed flavor of its creamy-filled protein snack Protein Bar14 hours agoFrom Stack3d Mrs Taste Cafe Cookie Protein Bar Mrs. Taste has grown into one of Brazil’s most intricate and innovative functional food companies, with everything from its original sauces through to snacks, spreads, and protein foods. Among its more indulgent products is the Taste Cookie Bar, a compact protein snack featuring a gooey center and chocolate coating. The bar delivers around 9 to 10g of protein, moderate carbohydrates and fat, and comes in a growing selection of dessert flavors. Since first launching in just a handful of options, Mrs. Taste has significantly expanded the menu of the Taste Cookie Bar with additions such as Brigadeiro, Salted Caramel, and Dubai Chocolate. The latest extension is Cafe, featuring a rich coffee-flavored filling and coating for a distinctly Brazilian taste experience. The new flavor has debuted at the Natural Tech convention this weekend and will become available in all of the usual places shortly after.

Brazilian functional food brand Mrs. Taste continues to blur the line between nutrition and indulgence with the introduction of its latest Taste Cookie Bar flavor. Known for developing innovative better-for-you alternatives across multiple categories, the company has steadily built an impressive portfolio that ranges from sauces and spreads to protein-packed snacks designed for health-conscious consumers.

One of the standout products in its lineup is the Taste Cookie Bar, a decadent protein treat featuring a soft, creamy center wrapped in a chocolate coating. Despite its dessert-like appeal, each bar provides approximately 9 to 10 grams of protein alongside balanced amounts of carbohydrates and fats, making it a convenient option for those looking to satisfy sweet cravings while supporting their nutrition goals.

After successfully expanding the range with flavors like Brigadeiro, Salted Caramel, and the increasingly popular Dubai Chocolate, Mrs. Taste is now embracing one of Brazil's most beloved beverages: coffee. The newest addition, Café, combines a rich coffee-flavored filling with a complementary coating to create a snack inspired by the country's deep-rooted coffee culture.

The Café Taste Cookie Bar made its debut at this year's Natural Tech convention, where attendees were given an early look at the brand's latest innovation. Following its showcase at the event, the new flavor is expected to roll out through Mrs. Taste's traditional retail channels, offering consumers another exciting option in the ever-growing functional snack category.

As protein snacks continue to evolve beyond basic nutrition bars, brands like Mrs. Taste are demonstrating that convenience, flavor, and functionality can coexist. With its coffee-inspired twist, the Café Taste Cookie Bar is poised to appeal to both coffee enthusiasts and snack lovers seeking a more enjoyable way to incorporate protein into their daily routines.

David Raises the Bar Again with a Game-Changing High Protein Ice Cream

David Protein Ice Cream

When David entered the protein bar category, the brand immediately grabbed attention by delivering an unprecedented protein-to-calorie ratio that challenged what consumers thought was possible. Now, the company is setting its sights on another indulgent category with the launch of its new protein-packed ice cream, and once again, the nutrition numbers are turning heads.

Ice cream has traditionally been one of the toughest foods to improve nutritionally without sacrificing flavor and texture. Many high-protein frozen desserts have struggled to replicate the rich, creamy experience consumers expect. David appears to have tackled that challenge head-on by utilizing EPG, an innovative modified plant-based fat ingredient that provides many of the functional benefits of traditional fats while contributing significantly fewer calories.

The result is a frozen dessert that delivers an impressive 30 grams of complete protein per pint, sourced from premium ingredients including whey protein and milk protein isolate. Depending on the flavor, carbohydrate content ranges from approximately 35 to 50 grams, while sugar remains remarkably low at 2 grams or less. Fat content stays between 4 and 8 grams, helping keep total calories surprisingly low.

The flavor lineup includes indulgent options such as Triple Chocolate, Triple Peanut Butter, and Cookie Dough. These dessert-inspired varieties feature rich mix-ins and flavor inclusions while still maintaining 30 grams of protein and around 260 calories per pint. For those looking for the leanest option possible, Vanilla Bean offers the same protein content with only 210 calories, making it one of the most nutrition-friendly ice cream products currently available.

What makes this launch particularly noteworthy is that David isn't simply creating another "healthy" ice cream. The brand appears focused on delivering a product that can genuinely compete with traditional premium ice cream in both taste and texture while dramatically improving the nutritional profile. That's a difficult balance to achieve, and it's one of the reasons the product has generated so much anticipation among fitness enthusiasts and everyday consumers alike.

As protein continues to become a priority for more consumers, innovations like this demonstrate how far the functional food category has evolved. Rather than forcing people to choose between enjoyment and nutrition, products like David Protein Ice Cream aim to offer both in the same package.

Whether the ice cream ultimately lives up to the considerable hype remains to be seen, but based on its impressive nutrition facts and premium flavor selection, David may have another category-disrupting success on its hands.

David Protein Launches High Protein, Low Calorie Ice Cream

David Bar Ice Cream

David Protein is stepping outside the protein bar world with its first-ever ice cream, and it’s designed to impress. Known for delivering candy bar-style macros that beat most competitors, the brand is now bringing its low-carb, high-protein formula to a frozen treat.

Revealed this week around the Arnold Sports Festival, David Protein Ice Cream packs 30 grams of protein, only 2 grams of sugar, and 260 calories per serving. The brand uses its patented lower-calorie fat alternative, EPG, to create a creamy, authentic ice cream experience without the usual calorie load. This makes it a standout option for anyone looking for indulgence without compromising their fitness goals.

So far, we’ve seen one flavor that looks like Cookies or Cookies and Cream, but based on the launch patterns of their original and Bronze Protein Bars, it’s likely more flavors will follow. With David Protein expanding its presence at the Arnold Expo this year, fans can expect to get a closer look at the ice cream and possibly sample it for themselves.

This move signals that David Protein isn’t just a bar company anymore—it’s branching into other formats while keeping the same focus on strong macros and delicious taste.

FroPro Launches New Fit Sauces With Just 17 Calories Per Serving

FroPro Low Calorie Sauces

FroPro is officially entering the condiment space with a brand-new product line called FroPro Fit Sauce. The Australian functional food company has already built a strong reputation for creating high-protein, better-for-you versions of everyday foods, including items like Protein Pizza, High Protein Cheesecake, and even Protein Dumplings.

Up until now, sauces were one category FroPro hadn’t explored, even though they make perfect sense alongside the brand’s savory protein-based meals. That changes this week, as FroPro has unveiled its first lineup of condiments designed to deliver big flavor with lighter nutrition.

The new FroPro Fit Sauce range will launch exclusively at Woolworths, one of Australia’s largest grocery chains, starting next Monday. This marks FroPro’s first official move into the condiment market, giving customers a new way to enjoy creamy sauces without the heavy calorie load that usually comes with them.

FroPro Fit Sauce is debuting in six different flavors: Classic Ranch, Toasted Sesame, Burger Mayo, Pepper Mayo, Peri Peri Mayo, and Garlic Aioli. The lineup is focused on thicker, richer condiments, with several varieties built around mayonnaise-style sauces.

As expected from FroPro, the nutrition profile is one of the biggest selling points. Each standard serving contains only around 17 to 18 calories, with carbohydrates and fat kept to a minimum. This makes the sauces an easy addition for anyone looking to enhance meals while staying on track with health or fitness goals.

With this launch, FroPro continues to expand beyond high-protein foods and into everyday staples, offering more ways for consumers to enjoy familiar flavors in a lighter, more functional format.

Warrior Combines Protein and Creatine in Its Latest Muscle-Building Bar

Warrior Bar

Warrior, a well-established brand in the UK sports nutrition market, is expanding its popular range of protein snacks with an exciting new product: the Warrior Creatine Protein Bar. Known for their delicious Warrior Crunch bars and the more wholesome Warrior Raw options, the brand has built a reputation for blending taste and nutrition. Now, Warrior is taking things up a notch by reintroducing a concept that hasn't been seen in a while—combining protein with creatine in a convenient bar format.

The Warrior Creatine Protein Bar delivers a solid punch of nutrition, packing 20g of protein and 3g of creatine per serving. These bars aren’t just your average protein snack; they bring together the muscle-building power of protein and the strength-enhancing benefits of creatine in one convenient package. With a mix of milk protein and collagen, Warrior ensures you're getting high-quality protein to support muscle recovery and growth.

Creatine, a staple supplement for boosting muscle strength and size, used to be a more common feature in snack bars from various sports nutrition brands. However, it’s been a while since we’ve seen a product like the Warrior Creatine Protein Bar, which offers a reliable 3g dose of creatine—a dose typically found in powders, not bars. This makes it a standout in today’s market, where most protein bars focus solely on protein content.

Nutritionally, the Warrior Creatine Protein Bar holds its own against other snacks, featuring 237 calories, 19g of carbohydrates (with only 3.6g of sugar), and 3.6g of fat. These macros make it a well-balanced option for those looking to fuel their workouts while also meeting their daily creatine needs.

For those interested in trying this innovative protein and creatine combo, Warrior is offering the bars in three tempting flavors: Chocolate Orange, Salted Caramel Brownie, and Chocolate Peanut. A box of 12 bars is priced at £19.99 (approximately $26.12 USD), making it an affordable and convenient option for athletes looking to add both protein and creatine to their daily routine.

In a market saturated with protein snacks, Warrior has managed to carve out a unique space by delivering a two-in-one solution that saves you the hassle of juggling multiple supplements. Whether you're aiming to build muscle, enhance performance, or just enjoy a tasty treat, the Warrior Creatine Protein Bar is a game-changer.

Univeral/Animal Nutrition's All New Beef Biltong

Animal Nutrition Beef Biltong

Images have recently begun surfacing online of an all new functional food product from the OG brand Universal Nutrition and their spin-off Animal. The all new product appears to be a Beef Biltong. While we've heard this name before and thought it was something similar to beef jerky, we did a bit of research and a bit of Googling for this one. Apparently Beef Biltong is a thinly sliced, dried, and cured meat which originates from South African countries like Zimbabwe, Botswana, and South Africa. Some compare it to beef jerky, though apparently it's quite different. Beef Jerky is cut very thin and cooked on a rack at low temperatures to slowly dry it out where as Biltong is cured and marinated for 24 hours and then hung on hooks to air dry for up to a week at a time. Biltong is also left in thicker pieces and is a big chunkier than beef jerky.

We don't have much in the way of details to go on but from what we're heaving the all new Animal Biltong is going to feature 16 grams of protein per serving with no sugar or carbs, and from the photo it appears it will come in three flavors including Original, HIckory and Spicy Chili, and likely will be very clean with no additives, preservatives, or nitrates.

We're not sure exactly when this one will be dropping or what the price point will be but we're anticipating it dropping on the Animal web shop sometime in early to mid April.

Everyone's Going Crazy for Golden Berries But What Are They?

What Are Golden Berries or Gooseberries

So here at The Supp Plugg we typically try, review and write about Vitamins and Supplements as well as Energy Drinks and Functional Foods, but we rarely talk about actual food food. We all know that real whole foods is what we should be eating, and that supplements are intended to be just what the name implies, supplementation, so I wanted to occasionally talk about new and interesting fruits and vegetables that you may not have tried. On a recent shopping trip to Aldi, in the produce section I noticed these bright yellow/orange berries or tomatos I'd never seen before and they caught my eye. Upon taking a closer look I noticed they were called Golden Berries or Goose Berries and I immediately knew I had to try them. After having done a bit more reading up on them it seems that searches for Gooseberries or Golden Berries are surging and there's a lot of recent Youtube Videos and Blog Posts with people sharing their recently discovered Goldenberry treasures.

Interest in Golden Berries aka Gooseberries

What Are Golden Berries?

Golden Berries are also known as Cape Gooseberries and they are a yellow or golden colored fruit that is closely related to Tomatillos. Having talked to some friends about these a lot of their responses were "But I don't like Tomatos", however even if your one of the many out there who doesn't like Tomatos Golden Berries are not like your typical tomato, while it does share a similar texture and appearance to a cherry tomato, it actually tastes more like a Tangerine or a Grapefruit than any tomato I've ever tried.

Golden Berries are native to Peru and Chile, however today they are grown all across South and Central America as well as in South Africa and Australia, the Golden Berries I picked up from Aldi come from Columbia.

While the Golden Berries you see pictured above in this article look like golden cherry tomatos, they actually come in a paper like shell or husk similar to that of a tomatillo and need to be picked out, the ones I purchased from Aldi however were already husked.

Golden Berries are a healthy snack, they're packed with nutrients and per cup provide about 74 calories along with fiber, protein, and an assortment of vitamins and minerals, specifically high amounts of beta carotene and Vitamin K. In terms of health benefits they're high in antioxidants, have anti-inflammatory properties and help to boost bone health as well as better vision due to the beta carotene.

What Do Golden Berries Taste Like

So when I purchased my Golden Berries I had no idea what to expect, the packaging states that they are tangy, tropical and sweet, though due to the appearance I was expecting somewhat of a tomato taste. I was shocked when I bit into my first Golden Berry. The texture is similar to that of a cherry tomato, not a super juicy cherry tomato but more so a soft and fleshy one, something like a Midnight Snack Tomato if you're familiar with those. In terms of the taste the most overwhelming aspect of the flavor is that of a citrus fruit, personally I got a very strong tangerine flavor with a hint of grapefruit, and maybe just a very slight flavor of a green tomato, although that may have only been present in specific berries which hadn't 100% ripened. Golden Berries are both sweet, tart, and citrussy all at the same time, it's one of the more unique fruits I've ever tried and I'd urge people to give them a try, even if you're one of these people who claim to not like tomatoes, I think you'll be surprised by them.

Where to Buy Golden Berries and How to Eat Golden Berries?

Okay so lastly where to buy them and how to eat them. If you want fresh Golden Berries it seems Aldi stores around the country have a good supply of them right now, short of Aldi I'm not sure where to get them as I've never seen them in grocery stores in the past. If you have a grocery store near you that's known for having a wide selection of good produce that may be worth checking as well. If you don't mind your Golden Berries being dried there's a lot of vendors selling dried Golden Berries on Amazon and you should be able to find a bag for around $15 bucks.

In terms of how to eat Goldenberries it seems to make the most sense to eat them raw as a snack, though they would also make a great salad topping, you could blend them into a smoothie, and some people even bake with them or include them in jams.

If this post intrigues you to try Golden Berries take a drive over to your local Aldi and you'll likely find them in stock.
