Earlier this month Bowmar Nutrition had announced an all new protein popcorn product. At the time we didn't get much in the way of details aside from at least one flavor being a Chicago Mix of Cheddar and Caramel Corn, and that it would contain 10 grams of protein
As confirmed before, there's 50 grams of protein per bag, that's 10 grams per serving, with 5 servings in each bag. It's a bit high in sugar with 25 grams of sugar, but again, it's caramel corn, it has 80 grams of carbs, 40 grams of fat, and 850 calories. If you chop that up into 5 servings that leaves us with 170 calories per serving, 8 grams of fat per serving, 16 grams of carbs, and 5 grams of sugar. Protein Popcorn seems to be a popular functional food hitting the market right now. We've seen a number of other brands rolling out protein popcorn, most recently and most notably Allmax with their HexaPro Protein Popcorn we wrote about yesterday. As far as all the protein popcorns we've seen, Bowmar's seems to be the leanest.
This new protein popcorn just became available today and is already sold out. You can register to be notified on the companies site when they get more in. This protein popcorn will sell for $12.99 per bag with each bag containing 185g of popcorn.
