Aaron Singerman just made a huge announcement on Instagram – Jolt Cola is coming back! If you were an 80s or 90s kid, you probably remember Jolt as that high-caffeine soda your mom wouldn’t let you have, but you and your friends would bike to the store to grab before staying up all night playing video games.
Launched in 1985, Jolt was marketed with the slogan "All the sugar, twice the caffeine." At the time, 71mg of caffeine per can was considered extreme (though it seems low compared to today’s energy drinks). Over the years, the brand has been through a few ups and downs, disappearing and reappearing a few times, most recently in 2017.
Now, Redcon1 is bringing it back. It’s unclear if it’ll be the original formula or just the name slapped onto a new Redcon1 Energy flavor, but either way, it’s happening. The Instagram post shows a can with “Zero Sugar,” a big change from Jolt’s original “all the sugar” claim.
