Pepsi Enters the Functional Soda Game with Prebiotic Cola

Pepsi Probiotic Soda

\Ever since Pepsi bought Poppi for close to two billion dollars, the better for you soda space has been heating up. Brands have been scrambling to get in on the trend. Bloom Nutrition dropped Bloom Pop. The No Sugar Company came out with Super Soda. And now Pepsi is jumping in again, but this time under its own name.

Meet Pepsi Prebiotic Cola.

This is Pepsi's first shot at a true functional soda. It is made to taste like classic Pepsi, but with added benefits for gut health. The drink packs 3 grams of prebiotic fiber, 5 grams of cane sugar, and 30 calories per can. No artificial sweeteners. Just a lighter, functional twist on the original formula.

What makes this interesting is that Pepsi already owns Poppi, a brand built entirely around prebiotic soda. But instead of expanding that line, they are testing it under the Pepsi label. That says a lot about how far this trend has come. Functional drinks are not a niche anymore. They are mainstream.

The new Pepsi Prebiotic Cola is launching in two flavors, Original and Cherry Vanilla. It will be available online first this fall, with a full rollout to stores early next year.

If you are into gut health but still want that classic cola taste, this might be one worth checking out.
