If you follow our blog here at The Supp Plugg, you know we're huge fans of Smart Sweets Candies, we haven't tried a Smart Sweets candy we haven't liked yet. My personal favorites are probably either Smart Fish or SourMelon Bites, but they are all awesome.
The only critique I have for Smart Sweets, and it's a minor one, is the colors of their candy, as you can see from the photo here, are somewhat dull and not very fun or vibrant. That said the brand doesn't use artificial coloring which explains it, and at the end of the day I'd prefer my candy that way, but it's worth mentioning none the less.
In today's post however we're going to be reviewing the all new Smart Sweets Red Twists candy which is Smart Sweets take on, I assume, Red Vines Licorice.
Smart Sweets Red Twists are a delicious licorice candy with only 2 grams of sugar which is about 92% less than leading brands. They also feature 38% less calories than traditional licorice and contain 12 grams of plant based fiber, they're also gluten free and Kosher. So now what you're all wondering, how do they taste. They taste Amazing! The texture is a bit softer than traditional licorice and has more of the texture of a fruit snack, but are still great. As far as the flavor profile goes, these have a bit more of a berry taste than you might be used to from say a licorice like Twizzlers or Red Vines, but they are absolutely delicious and contain a fraction of the sugar as these traditional candies.
I would say these would probably fall in at around my third favorite behind Smart Fish and SourMelon Bites, though the Halloween Worms are right up there as well.
