Fans of Redcon1 will be excited about today’s post and
review. We managed to get our hands on a case of Redcon1’s All New MRE RTD
Shakes. Now if you’re a fan of Redcon1 MRE, which stands for “Meals at the
Ready”, you already know about this amazing meal replacement protein shake.
Previously this product was available in a powdered form, it was later spun-off
into MRE Lite, another powdered but leaner meal replacement, and it was
eventually turned into another spin-off MRE Bars or protein breakfast bars
essentially. Well, Redcon1 has managed to spin-off this product once again,
this time into Redcon1’s MRE RTD, a convenient Ready To Drink Carton of MRE. In
today’s post we’re going to be doing a review of the all new MRE RTD Protein
Shakes.
First off let’s get the macros out of the way. One thing
that’s a slight bit annoying is 1 carton is 2 servings. Many companies do this
such as Lenny & Larry’s making a single cookie into 2 servings when it
comes to macros. Nobody eats a cookie in 2 servings and clearly they lable
their product that way to deceive the consumer. I’m not sure why Redcon1 did
that with this product, making a single carton 2 servings, it makes no sense as
this is a meal replacement, its not meant to be lean, and the macros aren’t
even bad, 230 calories is nothing, nor are the 6 grams of fat or 6 grams of
carbs so it made no sense in my opinion to turn a carton into 2 servings.
Beyond that however assuming were talking a full carton you got 40 grams of
animal protein along with some pea protein, brown rice protein, and egg white
protein. Some who’ve reviewed this product have expressed disappointment in not
having 100% Beef Protein, however the reality is that beef protein and chocolate
and vanilla flavors don’t always meld that well, so this was likely done for
taste. While this product advertises it has no dairy protein it does have some
dairy in it for flavoring, however most who don’t care for dairy or are lactose
intolerant will not be bothered by the slight amount of dairy in here.
These MRE RTD’s are available right now in 4 flavors including
Vanilla Milkshake, Blueberry Cobbler, Milk Chocolate, and Strawberry Shortcake.
We wound up getting a chance to try the Chocolate an the Vanilla which are two
classic and standard flavors. So now what you all wanted to hear about, what
did we think about them.
Well let me start by saying I’m a huge fan of RTD or pre-packaged protein
shakes over powders. I’m not sure why or how but to me they always taste
superior, they are well mixed, they are creamy, the taste is rich. Many protein
shakes come in a powdered version and a liquid or RTD version and I’m always a
fan of the RTD or pre-mixed version and Redcon1 MRE RTD was no different, I’m a
huge fan. While I liked the original powder, I liked these even better. These
shakes are rich, creamy, have a great taste, and best of all there’s none of
that meaty or earthy taste you often get with sweet protein powders made with
animal proteins. After finishing a carton I was definitely satiated and it kept
me full and energized until dinner time. For those who are just looking for an
afternoon snack to hold them over until dinner or until after their workout,
one positive to this being divided into two servings is you can drink half, you’ll
stretch these drinks further and still get the job done.
These Redcon1 MRE RTD shakes come in a 12 carton box or case. Currently you can
pick these up on the Redcon1 online web store for $39.99 for a 12 case or at
BestPriceNutrition.Com for the same price $39.99 per 12 case, however they’ll
