Rockstar Punched is a go-to energy drink for those who enjoy a bold, fruity flavor with a powerful energy boost. Similar to Juice Monster, it offers a variety of classic and creative flavors, from Watermelon and Fruit Punch to Strawberry Peach and Berry Sangria. At this year's NACS Show in Las Vegas, Rockstar introduced a new Pineapple Rockstar Punched, a reimagining of their previous Pineapple Breeze flavor. This version combines a sweet pineapple taste with 240mg of caffeine, plus added vitamins and carnitine.
Rockstar Punched is known for its high sugar content, with the Fruit Punch variety packing 61g of carbs, all from sugar, and 250 calories per can. The new Pineapple flavor is expected to be similar, making it a sweet but sugary option. If you love bold flavors and don't mind the extra sugar, Rockstar Punched offers a satisfying energy kick, but it's best enjoyed in moderation.
Despite the chaos and turmoil going on in the markets right now, Rockstar Energy Drink's founder Russ Weiner is cashing out, and making a fortune doing it. Rockstar has been sold to Pepsi Co for 3.85 Billion Dollars.
Weiner was quoted as saying "It shows the American Dream is still alive and well. It shows Pepsi has faith in the future and they believe in what we created. It is a bright light in the middle of this hellstorm."
It's also a hell of a lot of cash for Weiner who owns 85% of Rockstar. With this deal Weiner is worth about 3.9 Billion, however capitol gains taxes will lower that by about 900 million once this huge deal closes. PepsiCo will also give Weiner about 700 million of their future tax benefits associated with the deal payable over the next 15 years.
Rockstar currently has a distribution agreement with PepsiCo in North America and has since 2009, and they currently sell Rockstar in 30 countries worldwide. Weiner says the deal will turn Rockstar into an even larger "Global Powerhouse".
Weiner started Rockstar with just $50,000 of his own money. After testing over 700 varieties, Weiner drove around San Francisco in an old limo painted with the Rockstar logo to promote the brand new energy drink.
Prior to launching Rockstar, Weiner followed in the footsteps of his pops, talk radio host Michael Savage, running for California State Assembly in 1998. After losing the race his campaign caught the eye of his fathers buddy Sky Vodka founder Maurice Kanbar who hired him. Weiner suggested that Skyy develop an energy drink, however after having that idea shotdown, Weiner quit to launch his own energy drink company, and as you can see it worked out pretty well.
Today I managed to get my hands on a can of Rockstar Thermo X. This is the All New Thermogenic Energy Drink from Rockstar. The All New Rockstar Thermo X seems to be available only at select gas stations, I've heard it's exclusive to Speedway, but have also heard it's available at AM/PM Gas Stations as well, so those are your best bets if you're looking to pick up a can.
Now Bang kind of started the energy drink revolution with 300mg Caffeine Energy drinks as well as adding BCAAs, Creatine, and CoQ10 to energy drinks, Reign and Rockstar have also picked up on this. The newest trend seems to be Thermogenic Energy drinks with Monster Reign recently putting out their Reign Inferno Thermogenic Energy Drink. Rockstar Thermo X is Rockstars response to that. Wouldn't be surprised to see Bang Energy roll out their very own Thermogenic Energy Drink in the near future.
One unique thing about Rockstar Thermo X is unlike Bang and Monster, Rockstar actually tells you how much BCAAs are in the drink, and this beverage contains 1,000mg of BCAAs. While this is fairly underdosed to have any recovery or endurance benefits, at least they tell you what's in it.
While were on this topic, Monster, Bang, Rockstar, first and foremost they are energy drinks. The Creatine or Super Creatine or BCAAs or CoQ10 put in, its just for marketing purposes, there isn't adaquete enough doses to actually get any real benefits from these ingredients, its nothing but marketing so think of these drinks first and foremost as energy drinks because that's what they are.
That aside Rockstar Thermo X does feature 1,000mg of BCAAs, 300mg of Caffeine like Bang and Reign, CoQ10, B Vitamins, Green Tea Extract, and of course no sugar, no calories, and no artificial colors. It's also gluten free.
As far as the taste, it's a Tropical taste, but its hard to pick out individual flavors. I'd say it's some type of Mango, Pineapple, Coconut type flavor maybe with some Dragonfruit or Passionfruit mixed in. There's a hint of a candy like taste, maybe a Pink Starburst type taste, but overall it's a crisp tropical flavor. It's pretty sweet without being overly sweet either, definitely not syrupy at all and no chemical like taste that many artificially sweetened drinks have.
Overall I was a fan of the drink and would probably pickup another can down the road. If you'd like to see our video review you can check it out down below.
A recent trend we've begun to see is energy drink companies adding thermogenic ingredients to their beverages and creating fat burning energy drinks. Rockstar Energy recently announced and released Rockstar Thermo X, an all new thermogenic Rockstar Energy drink that also contains BCAAs.
One unique thing about this drink compared to Monsters Reign and Bang Energy Drinks is that Rockstar actually tells you the dosage of BCAAs in their beverage, and it packs in 1,000mg of BCAAs per can.
In addition to the BCAAs Rockstar Thermo also packs in 300mg of caffeine for energy, Green Tea, CoQ10, and Zero Calories. Rockstar Thermo X has announced they will be hitting Canada as well, however the Canadian version will feature 40% less caffeine at 180mg per can. This is because Canada caps how much caffeine can be in each energy drink by volume. When Bang Energy was introduced to Canada a while back they also lowered the normal 300mg to 180mg due to Canada's regulations.
This all new Thermogenic Energy Drink from Rockstar Energy will arrive in two flavors in the USA, Neon Blast and Tropical Fire, but will roll out four flavors for the Canadian Market including Cotton Candy, Hardcore Apple, Marshmallow, and Blue Raz.
***EDIT***
We recently got our hands on a can of Rockstar Thermo X from a Speedway Gas Station. We'll be doing a full write-up, but you can checkout the video review here....
Here at The Supp Plugg, we're huge fans of Energy Drinks, so we're always excited to hear when Bang Energy, 3D Energy, Monster, or anyone else for that matter rolls out a new flavor, or a new product. And we have something exciting for you guys today, an All New Energy Drink from Rockstar Energy.
Rockstar has announced an all new beverage for the New Year, and Rockstar Energy + Juice is one heck of a way to kick off and roll into 2020. Rockstar Juiced is similar to Monster's Energy Drink Monster Juice. Rockstar Juiced is a beverage that contains a typical energy drink, as well as real authentic fruit juice.
Rockstar's all new drink packs in 8% real fruit juice, no sugar added, and a respectable 160mg of caffeine, so a bit less than a Bang Energy Drink, but enough for an morning or afternoon pick me up.
Rockstar Juiced isn't 100% calorie free like a lot of energy drinks on the market, however it only has 20 calories per can which isn't bad, and currently comes in two tasty flavors including Pineapple Orange Guava, and Island Mango.
This all new sparkling beverage from Rockstar Energy is now available in stores in both colors. If you happen to try it let us know what you think, and we'd love to hear your thoughts on how this one stacks up against Monster Juiced.
